Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick's children are opening up about their experience starring alongside their famous parents in the horror-comedy Family Movie, which debuted at SXSW on March 13.
In an interview with TheEntBase, both Sosie and Travis Bacon confessed they initially had "reservations" about sharing the screen with their parents for the first time.
"I definitely had reservations. We were all worried that tensions might flare up on set, leading to arguments or little conflicts," said Sosie, who currently appears in Scarpetta.
Family Movie tells the story of a family of filmmakers who encounter a real-life horror scenario when a body is discovered on the set of their low-budget slasher film. Travis, a musician and composer, noted that the entire Bacon family is "attuned to the horror genre" but brings "different perspectives, experiences, and ages" to the table.
"Sosie and I had a clear vision for the film and wanted to ensure our voices were heard during those critical moments," Travis explained.

Ultimately, the collaborative process of working together on the film brought the family even closer.
"It turned out to be the most pleasant, exciting, and connected experience we could have imagined," Sosie shared.
For Travis, who is usually behind the camera, he was "floored and impressed" by how seamlessly his family came together to create the film.
"It felt incredibly collaborative, and everyone's input was valued. I believe that comes through in the film as well... It was magical," Travis added.

Kevin and Kyra also reflected on the unique challenge of balancing their roles as parents and directors on set.
"When you're directing actors who aren't your children, you don't constantly check in on their well-being or offer personal help. It was difficult to separate those instincts at times," Kyra admitted. "But I kept reminding myself... I was truly impressed by their ability to manage their personal lives and still show up fully present on set."
Kevin expressed pride in working with his family, especially given the challenges of an independent film production.
"They both have an incredible work ethic, deep empathy for others, and respect for the crew. That always makes you feel good," Kevin said.
