Trans actress Karla Sofia Gascón just delivered a masterclass in clapbacks on Instagram, responding to Timothée Chalamet's controversial comments about opera and ballet being "dying art forms." In a fiery Instagram Story that's going viral, Gascón didn't hold back.

Gascón's response began with a bold red font message: "Are you a Trans woman? Then don't worry about it, Tim." She then added, "Besides, I love ballet slippers and I've seen Phantom of the Opera ten times," accompanied by pink ballet slipper stickers. "Not sure if that counts for anything. Best of luck with the awards."
But the real heat came in her follow-up commentary. "The dancers care, the singers care, the audience cares," Gascón declared. "There's still an audience. People give a f---. You show up in a nice outfit. You sit the f--- down and shut the f--- up. That's the usual etiquette around those things. Maybe learn something from that."
Gascón also drew a sharp comparison between their respective controversies, noting: "Even though no one has seen or heard me say anything, while they have both seen and heard you, people still seem to prefer believing whatever the bad guys claim I said."

The drama started when Chalamet said during an interview: "I started getting the sense it was maybe opera or ballet or something, it's kind of like a dying art form or something." His comments immediately sparked backlash from the performing arts community.
Adding fuel to the fire, The Metropolitan Opera posted an Instagram response captioned "This one's for you, @tchalamet... 👀" celebrating their performers and artisans, in what many are interpreting as a direct rebuttal to Chalamet's remarks.
The internet is divided, with some praising Gascón for defending the arts and others criticizing her tone. One thing's certain: this celebrity feud has everyone talking about the vitality of classical performing arts in 2024.
