"Think about it," Meyers declared in his Wednesday monologue. "Trump loves football, craves attention, and even went last year. But suddenly, San Francisco is 'too far'? This is a man who owns a private jet and has flown to summits worldwide. The math doesn't add up—unless you factor in the one thing Trump can't control: public humiliation."
Trump's official excuse? He claims the Super Bowl is too lengthy and too distant from D.C., despite admitting he's had "great hands [at] the Super Bowl" in the past. Meyers fired back: "Too far? You didn't have to carpool with the family in a minivan. And since when does a guy who brags about his stamina complain about a long event?"
But Meyers didn't stop there. He pointed to Trump's obsession with gifts—like the "phony" FIFA peace prize he accepted in December—and joked, "Maybe they wouldn't give him a tacky souvenir. We know he loves those." Yet, the real clue came from a recent NFL game: footage of Trump getting loudly booed by fans at a Lions-Commanders matchup last November.
"That's the smoking gun," Meyers asserted. "Trump's approval ratings are tanking—down to 36% from 47%—and his party is losing ground. He's terrified of walking into a stadium full of people who might jeer him on national TV. It's not about distance; it's about dignity."

Meyers tied it all together with Trump's recent controversies, from ICE raids to foreign policy flops, noting that even as the president boasts about "the highest poll Numbers," the reality is a growing chorus of disapproval. "He can handle a long flight, but he can't handle the sound of boos," Meyers concluded. "And that says everything about why he's skipping the biggest game of the year."
