Bobby Cannavale is pulling back the curtain on the surprisingly electric chemistry he shares with Jamie Lee Curtis in their new Prime Video series Scarpetta. In an exclusive interview, the actor dishes on filming intimate scenes with the Hollywood icon, revealing their on-screen marriage as Pete Marino and Dorothy Scarpetta features a "really active, physical sex life" that translated to a "really fun" experience behind the scenes.
Cannavale told PEOPLE that Curtis's immersive presence elevated every moment. "Jamie is so in the room when she's in the room. She's in the room when she's not in the room, you know what I mean?" he quipped, praising her ability to foster a collaborative and artistic atmosphere. "She makes everybody in the room feel like an artist," he added, calling her energy "infectious."

The actor also teased the show's clever dual-timeline structure, which he says allows for well-developed characters across different eras. But it's Curtis's passion that truly drives the project—she spearheaded the adaptation of Patricia Cornwell's 1990 crime novel Postmortem after discovering the rights were available and contacting producer Jason Blum. "I was surprised it hadn't been done before," Curtis has said, highlighting the series' unique blend of forensic procedural and intense family drama.

Cannavale didn't stop there—he also raved about his scenes with Nicole Kidman, set in a truck where "deep, dark secrets" unfold. He called them "the best-written scenes" and "really rich" material, adding another layer to the star-studded drama. Scarpetta stars Kidman as forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta, who investigates murders echoing a 25-year-old case. Season 1 is now streaming on Prime Video, promising a mix of suspense, romance, and powerhouse performances.
