The ever-changing lineup of guest cohosts on The View continues to surprise viewers, especially during Alyssa Farah Griffin's time away. This week, the show took a bold step by inviting former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina to join the Hot Topics panel—a move that reignites a controversial moment from nearly a decade ago.

Back in 2015, former cohost Michelle Collins sparked outrage by describing Fiorina's facial expression during a presidential debate as "demented" on air. Now, Fiorina's return to the show marks a significant shift, highlighting the program's willingness to revisit past conflicts and foster new dialogues.

Host Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the March 16 episode with a playful, repeated welcome before introducing Fiorina. "Joining us as guest cohost this week, please welcome former Republican presidential candidate, Carly Fiorina," Goldberg announced, quickly transitioning to discuss the emotional impact of the recent Oscars ceremony.

The 2015 incident, where Collins' comment went viral, led to Fiorina appearing on the show shortly after to address the controversy. Goldberg recalled asking Fiorina directly, "Let's clear the air. We know you took issue with something that was said last week. What's happening, girl?" in a follow-up episode.

At that time, Fiorina responded with grace, stating, "I've been called all kinds of things. I've been called a bimbo from the time I was a secretary to the time I was a CEO." She emphasized the need for civil discourse in America, adding, "I think we need to be able to have civil conversations in this country about our differences, as well as about the things that unite us."

She further reinforced her resilience, saying, "Don’t worry, I have skin plenty thick enough to take whatever people throw at me. I'm making a different point," and stressed the importance of fact-based discussions on national issues.
