Maggie Gyllenhaal has transformed her new film The Bride! into the ultimate Hollywood family affair—and the internet is loving it. In an exclusive reveal, Gyllenhaal not only cast her husband Peter Sarsgaard and brother Jake Gyllenhaal in key roles, but she also brought their two daughters, Ramona (19) and Gloria (13), into the spotlight with surprise cameos.
"Why not have them join the movie if they're interested?" Gyllenhaal told TheEntBase with a smile. "My younger daughter, who was 11 during filming, is perched on a bar at the end. My older daughter, who's deeply into dance, appears with the dancers. It's a special way to have them be part of this."

The family dynamic didn't stop there. Sarsgaard shared his delight at seeing their daughters on set: "At school, they're into theater, but they haven't shown much interest in our industry—I can't imagine why," he joked. "Honestly, it felt like a group of people uniting to create something, not a big deal."
The Bride!, Gyllenhaal's second directorial project after 2021's The Lost Daughter, reimagines the classic Bride of Frankenstein story. This version follows Frankenstein's monster and his revived Bride as outlaw lovers sparking a cultural uprising—a tale Gyllenhaal says inspired her to "defy expectations."
Sarsgaard, who plays Detective Wiles, emphasized that his involvement was more than just familial. "Maggie is such a remarkable talent that even if we weren't married, I'd be vying for the role," he said. "We all have different personas at work versus home—my wife probably prefers my home self, since I ask 'why' too much on set."

Gyllenhaal praised Sarsgaard's approach: "He's one of those exceptional actors who excels at portraying flawed characters and uncovering their humanity. I really wanted him in this movie."
The film's family-centric casting has sparked buzz online, with fans calling it a "heartwarming Hollywood moment" and praising Gyllenhaal for blending personal and professional worlds. As Sarsgaard put it, "I love collaborating with those close to me—I've worked with Maggie many times, my brother-in-law, even my mother-in-law directed me once. I'm definitely open to working with family."
