When Jessie Buckley's toe snapped during a violent gunshot sequence on the set of Maggie Gyllenhaal's 'The Bride!', she didn't just power through the pain - she weaponized it.

The actress, who plays the reanimated Bride opposite Christian Bale's Frankenstein, turned a potentially disastrous injury into a performance-enhancing advantage that actually improved her monster portrayal.

"My toe swelled up like a tree trunk overnight," Buckley revealed exclusively to TheEntBase. "But here's the wild part - my character has one leg shorter than the other, so the injury actually helped me physically embody her uneven gait. The pain became part of the performance."

The incident occurred during the film's final week of shooting, when Buckley had to repeatedly tumble backward for a crucial action sequence. Despite the fracture, she completed the scene and continued filming, with the injury adding what she calls "a fun twist" to her undead character's physicality.

Gyllenhaal's punk-rock reimagining of the 1935 classic features Buckley as a corpse revived by mad scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) at the request of Frank (Bale), sparking a passionate romance that evolves into a Bonnie and Clyde-style crime spree challenging gender norms.

"This is the kind of commitment that defines great actors," Bale told reporters. "Jessie didn't just play a monster - she became one, injury and all. Audiences are going to see something truly transformative."

The film marks Gyllenhaal's second directorial effort and reunites her with Bale for the first time since 'The Dark Knight.' Industry insiders are calling 'The Bride!' one of the most anticipated films of the season, with Buckley's performance already generating Oscar buzz.

"Sometimes the best acting tools aren't in the script," Buckley reflected. "They're in the unexpected moments - even the painful ones. That swollen toe helped me understand what it means to be resurrected, to move in a body that's been through trauma."

'The Bride!' arrives in theaters March 6, promising what Bale describes as "bold, original cinema that will surprise everyone who thinks they know what to expect."
