Warning: This story reveals key moments from the first five episodes of Netflix's Age of Attraction.
Hosts Nick Viall and Natalie Joy witnessed one of reality TV's most jaw-dropping moments firsthand—the shocking 33-year age difference between Jorge, 60, and Vanelle, 27, on Age of Attraction.
"We watched that scene unfold live," Nick reveals to TheEntBase alongside his wife and co-host Natalie. "The tension was palpable because Vanelle had been telling everyone she'd found her husband, while also admitting her father would disapprove of anyone over 40."
Jorge and Vanelle were part of six couples who formed connections without knowing each other's ages in Netflix's daring dating experiment.
"We had no idea how the Promise Room reveal would play out," Nick admits about the moment couples disclose their ages after expressing feelings. "We were just as captivated as viewers. They're truly fascinating people."

Despite initially deciding to continue their relationship and move in together, Jorge and Vanelle's differences became insurmountable. The couple ultimately split after clashing over Vanelle's commitment to waiting until marriage for sex and disagreeing about how to handle an off-camera confrontation with a "crazy guy."
"Their story sparks crucial conversations about communication in relationships," Nick reflects on the controversial pair. "There was genuine respect and affection between them, but certain issues proved too difficult to overcome."
While viewers follow the remaining five age-gap couples, Nick and Natalie disclose that eight additional matches weren't featured on the show.
"The beauty of this show was its simplicity—no rules except no age disclosure," Natalie explains. "Participants dated and connected freely. We had same-age couples too. While we focused on six age-gap pairs in Vancouver, we wanted to highlight that connections happened across the board."
Nick believes showcasing other successful matches "validated the entire concept."
"At its core, this show is about compatibility, connection, and love," he emphasizes. "Age differences add an intriguing layer, but our goal was genuine connections. Our cast of 40 sincere individuals resulted in 14 authentic pairings—some with age gaps, some without. This wasn't a gimmick; every connection was real."
Next, the five remaining couples—Andrew (38) and Libby (22), Leah (41) and Chris (26), Theresa (54) and John (27), Derrick (43) and Pfeifer (23), and Vanessa (49) and Logan (29)—will introduce their partners to family and friends, who will likely have strong opinions about the age gaps.
"Expect compelling relationships that feel authentic," Nick teases about the upcoming episodes. "What I appreciate most is the show's realism. It proves you don't need weddings or engagements to care about how couples navigate relationships beyond the show. In 2026, relationships are challenging enough—we created this environment for connections, knowing real life brings its own tests."
