In an emotional opening to CBS Mornings, King and cohosts Vladimir Duthiers and Adriana Diaz analyzed the gut-wrenching video Savannah and her siblings posted on Instagram—a direct appeal to their missing mother who vanished from her Tucson home last Saturday.
"We're starting today differently because our hearts are heavy," King told viewers, her voice cracking. "We're praying for our friend Savannah Guthrie. Her mother Nancy is still missing, and last night the family released a message that will haunt anyone who watches it."

The veteran journalist, 71, struggled to maintain composure as she detailed what authorities now suspect was a forced abduction. "This is every family's worst nightmare," King said, wiping her eyes. "When Savannah said 'Mommy' in that video—it shattered me. An accomplished journalist, a mother herself, reduced to that primal cry. We're all feeling that desperation with her."
King described the family's public plea as "strategic agony"—a calculated move to reach potential kidnappers. "They're showing they'll do anything," she explained. "But watching it feels like witnessing private grief turned public weapon. It's devastating."

The investigation has taken a dark turn. Pima County Sheriff's Department revealed Nancy was likely taken forcibly from her home overnight.
